It’s beginning to look a lot like the US. People say they vote against their interests but the conservative (probably racist, xenophobic, sexist, and homophobic) values are their interest. They will protect it at all costs. You can choose your ism, but I like to look back at this quote:

If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.
