I would love to have a 5-hour work day but I’m in healthcare and it doesn’t work like that. It’s often coverage from 7am-10pm in my department. The most efficient thing is to have staff shifted toward the busiest parts of the day so all have equalized, high complexity work where there’s no time for schmoozing. Having daily metrics is also beneficial to defeating time waste. That way, even if someone is running out the clock, they better be precise about it.
